Join us in celebrating Pride Month
The Watermelon Woman is a trailblazing film by filmmaker Cheryl Dunye that shows the richness of Black lesbian identity and artistry. The film explores a young Black lesbian filmmaker in Philadelphia (played by Dunye) on her quest for greater representation in film. She sets out to make a documentary about a 1930s uncredited Black actress who she discovers along the way was a closeted lesbian.
As we watch, snack, & chat, we’ll also create our very own custom affirmation mirrors to remind us of our inner and outer beauty. Your ticket includes: popcorn, drink, all mirror materials, and craft instruction.
House Flicks is a monthly film & craft club where good films, good company, good crafting, and good vibes come together. All are welcome.
